"You're Fired."
The first time I heard that term, I was about 9. Little did I know, learning what "fired" meant at such a young age would change my life trajectory forever.
It was 1979.
My Mom came home from work one day and she started to cry as soon as she sat down on the couch.
She just had her face in her hands and she was sobbing.
I was (and still am) a sensitive kid and I started crying immediately.
